Green Marker

Featured

These grass-shaped page markers are my current obsession! Plant them in your books and reference materials and watch the lawn grow across your bookshelf as you mark the cultivation of your knowledge and curiosity. Appealing to the nature-loving bookworm, these award-winning designer page markers have drawn praise from bloggers around the globe. Created by Yuruliku and a receiver of a Good Design Award in 2010, the GreenMarker® is a set of 75 grass blade post-its in 3 different shapes and sizes, that can also double up as bookmarks to tell you in a horticultural fashion which page you are up to in your latest read. A zen lawn of wisdom in your library! The packaging is adorable, using a flip over match book design to protect the leaves with the motto “Little humour, Many happiness” on the cover. There are even instructions on how to trim your lawn if your knowledge sprouts too quickly. I just had to own these! You can get them through my start-up website www.pagemarker.co.uk/Amazon but hurry, as ive only brought a small batch over!

Thence Stationery

This querky stationery from really small design studio Thence is really uber cool and slightly underground. These are not just simply screenprinted plain notebooks, the content layouts are well designed and task related. Unique greeting cards and stickers are also in the range. Definately on my must have list!

CONST LAMP

Material: Marble, Oak wood, alluminum

Bangkok designers THINKK studio have created a lamp that slots together like a children’s toy. The designers simplified the product into three basic components; a base, a body and a shade. A marble block base balances the lamp and has a serrated edge for holding pencils. The lamp is being presented at Spazio Rossana Orlandi  during Salone del Mobile 2012.

Alice in Wonderland & Wizard of Oz Stationery

Originally attracted to Korean company 7321 by their stylish design range, the little girl inside me has been seduced by their vintage look Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz series of notebooks, gift cards and accessories instead.  Hardly cutting edge design but they are so sweet and gorgeously collectable, I cant help myself smile at them. Dont worry I’ll snap out of it but for now heres a few pics of the range.

So You Ball Calendar & Swing Needle

Small Korean design house So You have come up with some really interesting desk top products. This perpetual ball calendar not only reminds you what day your on, but has that slight retro design feel of those 70′s click clack desk toys dosent it?

The swing needle has the same updated design on a retro theme too.

The notebooks seem very criptic until you realise its not some crack code but the dimentions of the notebook thats embossed on the front!

Typeface Notebooks

These gorgeous black and white embossed notebooks from Daycraft are another stunning find. They celebrate typeface design and come in Gutenburg, New Times Roman and Helvetica and are a must for anyone who can tell their Futura from their Verdana (can highly recommend ‘Just My Type’ by Simon Garfield for a salacious gossip about typeface creators!). Hopefully I will get to fondle these fonts and admire the creamy lined pages of notebook at the London Stationery Show tomorrow.

Classic Journals with an Asian Twist

I know ive been quiet of late but all this talk of awards has spurred me on to do some more product (and soul) searching for you and the new website. This is a lovely find from Korean company, Antenna. They may not have a designer edginess about them but they have a bit of class. The notebooks have that Smythson style of sophistication but with that interesting and thoughtful page content and design you only really find from asia. The ranges marry this understated style with design and include some really interesting stand alone journals such as the “Life Mentoring Book” which even includes a bucket list section and “100 Book’s Journal”  where you can record your library and review your favourite authors. The stationery accessories and gadget tailoring all come in gorgeous co-ordinating colours and echo the classic look of the journals.

Kreative Blogger Award

A big thank you to for the superb and talent re:design team  (re:remable)nominating me for the Kreativ Blogger Award! The acceptance speech  requires me tell you seven interesting facts about me!  Gosh, modest and unaccustomed to blogging about anything other than stationery, I found this quite tricky. Here goes!

1. The poet laureate Ted Hughes once recited an unpublished poem to me. He told me I had a fantastic aura and made it up on the spot. I didn’t know who he was and assumed he was a dirty old man.. he was.

2. I am fluent in British Sign Language which means that even if you are hearing impaired you will have no trouble reading my blog.

3. I met my partner on a fire eating course. I thought he was a moron. We have been together for nearly two years. I still think he’s a moron but I love him.

4. I have a passion for old time music hall. That’s why my entire blog is written in mockney.. I know, you’ve not noticed, how good am I?

5. I have had over 100 weddings.. but have yet to be the bride (see point three).

6. I was runner up in a raw onion eating competition. Some people do this for fun y’know.

7. The love of my life is my cat, Trouble. He was going to be called Valentine but then he bit me. He’s bad tempered, moody and always hogs the duvet.. just like my partner (see point 3).

That was fun! Maybe I should write about my quirky life more often! Hopefully my nominees below enjoy it as much as i do and i look forward to hearing all about their inner foibles too!
